Big Government, Big Threat

A new poll from the Gallup Organization updates a question the pollster first asked nearly 50 years ago. In 1965, 35 percent of adults polled said big government represented the biggest threat to the country in the future, 29 percent said big labor did, and 17 percent chose big business. In the latest question, a whopping 72 percent of respondents said big government was the greatest cause for concern, followed by big business and big labor. The 72 percent response is the highest Gallup has ever recorded on this question. Majorities of Democrats (56 percent), Independents (71 percent), and Republicans (92 percent) said big government.
