We tend to greet our presidents with high expectations, and hopes were particularly high for Barack Obama after his election. In a December 2008 poll of registered voters, 62 percent of respondents told Fox News that they expected he would be one of the country’s greatest presidents (19 percent) or a good president (43 percent). When the pollsters asked a similar question in December 2013, just 26 percent gave him top marks. Twenty-eight percent in the new poll said he would be one of the worst.
Note: Sample is registered voters. In 2008, people were asked whether he would be one of the greatest presidents or a good president.
