A new poll from the Pew Research Center finds that 70 percent of adults say that the United States is less respected than in the past. Only 7 percent said the country was more respected. Of the 70 percent, 46 percent thought this was a major problem going forward, 20 percent a minor problem, and 3 percent not a problem at all. In another question in the poll, for the first time, more than half (53 percent) of respondents said the United States plays a less important and powerful role than it did in the past. Seventeen percent said the country played a more important role.
