According to Gallup’s latest World Affairs Survey, Canada continues to be the nation “most favored” by the American public: 92 percent of Americans expressed a “very” or “mostly” favorable opinion of their northern neighbor, slightly more than the 89 percent who said that about Great Britain. U.S. opinions of China and Russia were divided, with striking differences among generations. Sixty percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 34 had a favorable view of China, compared to only 38 percent of those aged 35 to 55 and only 34 percent of those aged 55 and older. Sixty-two percent of Americans aged 18 to 34 expressed a favorable opinion of Russia, compared to only 50 percent of those aged 35 to 54 and only 36 percent of those aged 55 and older. Of the 22 countries included by Gallup, overall favorability ratings were lowest for the Palestinian Authority (14 percent), North Korea (12 percent), and Iran (8 percent).
